Instruções Passo a Passo:

Material:

I've knitted these hats for Malhas de Esperança (Stitches of Hope), a solidarity project to help mitigate the suffering of children with cancer, trying to bring them some comfort and joy.
This is a very easy and quick pattern that can be knitted in any size. I used 100% acrylic baby yarn, Ice Yarns Baby Color to knit the white one, and Ice Yarns Magic Light to knit the colorful one. To finnish the white one I crocheted an aplique flower.

Pattern

Materials:
9'' circular needles and 5 double pointed needles with the indicated size for the yarn used (you can use only the DPNs if you wish, or if the hat is too small for the 9'' circular needles)
1 50g skein of yarn
Tapestry needle

Cast on a number of stictches multiple of 4 and knit 6 rows 2/2 ribbing in the round. Knit in the round until desired length. Distribute the stitches on DPNs so that you have an even number of stitches in each needle and knit 2 stitches together to the end of row. You now have half the stitches that you casted on. Knit 1 row. If necessary, distribute the stitches by the needles so that you have an even number of stitches in each needle. Knit 2 stitches together to the end of row. You now have a quarter of the number of stitches you casted on. Knit 1 row and cut the yarn, leaving about 6''. With a tapestry needle, Pass the yarn trough each stitch, take them off the needles and pull the yarn to close the top of the hat. Weave in ends. It's done!

I WISH YOU A 2013 FULL OF HOPE!!!

FELIZ NATAL PARA TODOS!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

This is a very quick and easy crochet hat pattern, and it's a fantastic project to use all those pieces of yarn left over from knitted and crocheted Christmas gifts. I usually tie those little pieces together and wind that yarn in a ball. Then I crochet a hat like the one in the picture - the more colorful the best!

You can also use self striping yarn like Ice Yarns Magic Light,

or Admiral R Druck, but you can use any yarn and crochet it in any size. If you like, you can finnish the hat with a pompon or any other embelishment.

alt="crochet, free crochet pattern, quick and easy, gorro, instruções passo a passo"

Material:

Abreviaturas:
mpa = meio ponto alto
pa = ponto alto

Rematar as pontas. E já está!

Material:
Approx. 1 skein (50g) of any yarn
1 crochet hook (size according to the yarn used)
metric tape
tapestry needle

Abbreviations:
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
Front post dc:  yarn over, insert hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second dc of the previous row, and then from back to front between the posts of the second and third dc, and work a dc.
Back post dc: yarn over, insert the hook from back to front between the posts of the first and second dc of the previous row and then from front to back between the posts of the second and third dc, and work a dc.

Pattern:
Measure loosely around the head with the metric tape and crochet a chain with the same length and an odd number of stitches. Leave a piece of yarn long enough to close your hat, because it is worked from top to bottom, in the round. Close with a sl st in chain1. Chain2 - you can turn your hat in each row, as if you were chrocheting a flat piece, or you can work it without turning, as you wish - 1 hdc in each chain, finnishing with sl st in chain2. Repeat until your hat is about 1'' less than the desired length. Then, start crocheting a ribbing with front post dc and back post dc. Chain 3, dc in each hdc, finnishing with sl st in chain3. Chain2 (because front post dc and back post dc are shorter than dc), *1 front post dc, 1 back post dc*, repeat to the end of row and finnish with back post dc and sl st in chain2. Repeat ** for 2 rows, or until desired length. Cut the yarn.
With the tapestry needle, weave the yarn trough all the stiches on the top of the hat to close it. If you like, you can make a pompon or any other embelishment. Pull the yarn to close the top of your hat and sow firmly. Weave in ends. It's done!

Rain-Bow Vest

alt="knitting, free knitting pattern, boucle, baby rainbow vest, colete para bebé, tricot, instruções passo a passo"
 Fotografia/Photos Nuno Neto Miranda

For the English version, please scroll down.

Coser as partes laterais.

I've bought this yarn, Wool Boucleron Ice Yarns, for its texture and colors, to experiment with boucle. This vest for my daughter flew out of my needles in 2 days. To finnish, I've sewn two satin ribbons that I found in the chaos of my supply box. I've named it Rain-Bow Vest, because it has (almost) all the colors of the rainbow and a bow.

Material
Approx. 2 skeins of Ice Yarns Wool Boucleron
8mm knitting needles
40 cm (16'') of fuchsia satin ribbon.

Gauge
11stiches x 9 rows: 10cm x 10cm (4'' x 4'')

Size
This size fits a 12/18 months toddler. To adjust size, just increase or decrease the number of stiches by multiples of 3 (this must be an even number) so you can divide the increased or decreased stiches evenly by the neckline and shoulders, and increase or decrease the number of rows to get the right length.

Pattern
Cast on 28 stiches and work 34 rows in stockinette stitch, or until the piece is about 25 cm (10'') long. Cast off the 8 middle stitches. You now have 10 stiches in each  ahoulder. Place the 10 stitches of one side in a stitch holder (I normally use one piece of yarn or circular needles), and work one set of 10 stitches at a time.
Work 3 rows in stockinette.
4th row (knit): kfb on the second stich (11 stitches)
5th row: purl
6th row: repeat 4th row (12 stitches)
7th row: purl
8th row: repeat 4th row (13 stitches)
9th row: purl
10th row: repeat 4th row (14 stitches)
Work 24 rows in stockinette. Cast off.
Repeat to knit the other front side of the vest, but with kfb in the stitch before the last stitch, instead of the second stitch. Sow the sides.
Cut the satin ribbon in 2 equal parts, and cut one of the ends of each piece on the bias.
Sow the other ends to each side of the vest to tie with a bow. And it's done!

Crochet e Tricot para Todos - Knitting and Crocheting for Everyone

These days, everyone can easily learn how to knit and crochet. The internet unravels a world of possibilities. There are many good video tutorials and blogs that teach basically everything there is to know, both basic and advanced techniques, stiches, patterns, kindly made available for free. Just watch and learn!
My grandmother taught me the basics when I was 6 or 7, to knit and crochet clothes for my dolls. It was all made of rectangles and squares, since those were the only shapes I could handle. Later, in my teens, I knitted a few sweaters that must have gone terribly wrong, I don't quite remember, but it should have been a disaster, as they made me put my needles and hooks aside for many years. It was only after the birth of my daughter that I bought some yarn and borrowed the needles and hooks from my mother to start knitting and crocheting baby booties, sweaters and beanies. And, surprisingly, I found out that I could do that and much more. You only need to start with simple projects, to get used to the terminology, that can be quite intimidating at first, and not be afraid to innovate, giving a personal touch to your projects.
So don't be discouraged if you can't afford expensive workshops and books. You can do the most amazing things with basic techniques and simple patterns: just be criative. In this blog I'll try to introduce simple patterns that are effective and work out well, sharing my projects and what I learn to show you that knitting and crocheting is for everyone.

Picot and Lace Crochet Sweater - Casaquinho de Crochet para Bebé

alt="crochet, baby sweater, free crochet pattern, Picot and Lace Sweater, instruções passo a passo, casaquinho de bebé"
Fotografia/Photos Nuno Neto Miranda

A few months ago, I stumbled upon this Picot and Lace Crochet Sweater in the internet when I was looking for a little crochet sweater pattern. It's free, seamless and quite simple. I ended up making some changes to the pattern: didn't taper the sleeves and made two braids in one side and two button holes in the other, to fasten the cardi with two little bows instead of buttons. Meanwhile, my daughter grew up and the sleeves were becoming short, so I added some more rows with the remaining yarn. It suits her perfectly!

Baby Bolero - Casaquinho de bebé com torcidos

alt="Baby Bolero, Knitting, free pattern, cables, tricot, casaquinho de bebé, instruções passo a passo, torcidos"
Fotografia/Photos Nuno Neto Miranda

I've found this baby bolero knitting pattern on Ravelry  for free and decided to venture knitting it. I had never tried cable knitting, but I guess it turned out all right. This is a good pattern to experiment with this technique, and it is seamless too, which is always a huge advantage for me! To finnish, I sew a vintage mother of pearl button, to give it some flare!
